On March 8, International Women’s Day, the number of DDoS attacks against online florists in Russia may increase by 35% compared to normal daily life. Ramil Khantimirov, CEO and co-founder of StormWall, told socialbites.ca.

“DDoS attacks against online stores on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 increased by 19% compared to Tuesday of the previous week. In 2023, DDoS attacks against online stores on Wednesday, March 8 increased by 28% compared to Wednesday of the previous week. In 2024, DDoS attacks on Thursday, March 7 may increase by 20-25% compared to the Thursday of the following week. There will be a peak in hacker activity on Friday, March 8; “DDoS attacks on March 8 may increase by 30-35% compared to Friday of next week,” he said.

According to him, the main target of attackers on March 7 and 8 will be small online stores that do not have an adequate level of protection. These include online flower stores, cosmetics, electronics and jewelry stores, as well as logistics services that deliver products.

“Due to DDoS attacks, online store sites may be unavailable, there may be problems in choosing and paying for products in online stores, as well as difficulties in organizing the delivery of purchased products. As a result, retailers may suffer financial and reputational losses,” explained the expert.

According to him, the peak of abnormal activity of attackers will not last long, and on March 9-10 the number of daily DDoS attacks will already return to normal values.
