Vladimir Ulyanov, head of the Zecurion analytical center, said that broken communication cables in the Crane Sea between Europe, Asia and Africa will most likely not affect Internet availability around the world. This was reported by “lenta.ru”.
According to the expert, Internet traffic can follow different routes, and in most cases the most suitable route is chosen. If the cable is damaged and some nodes or communication channels become unusable, traffic is redirected to other paths. A similar situation occurs when main cables carrying large volumes are damaged.
Ulyanov explained that services may be unstable if other routes are overloaded. The expert did not rule out that theoretically such problems could arise due to cable rupture in the Red Sea. But he noted that potential violations are unlikely to be widespread.
