In early March, fake clones of popular games appeared on Steam. One of the players who downloaded a similar game encountered a blue BSOD screen, reports DTF portal.

According to a user named Kaelrie, he bought the Last Epoch game without realizing that it was fake. However, after starting the game, his computer gave an error and restarted. To avoid risks, he reinstalled the operating system and lost all his data.

“To anyone who installs and runs these games, please be aware that these games may contain malware. I formatted my computer because I started getting BSOD errors after starting it. After reinstallation everything is fine. The only problem is that now you have to download all the games again,” the player warned.

In response to his complaint, Valve support stated that the company blocked the developer who marketed his work as Last Epoch and refunded the money to anyone who purchased his games. The number of victims was not specified.

Besides Last Epoch, scammers also was created fake Helldivers 2 and Palworld pages. Scammers have renamed the pages to their old projects.
