Honda shows off a VR chair with built-in wheels and an electric motor

Japanese automaker Honda has introduced a powered virtual reality chair called Honda Uni-One that allows the user to physically navigate virtual worlds. In this respect reports Hi-Tech Mail.Ru portal.

The chair is equipped with self-balancing technology and sensors that react to the tilt of the user’s body and determine the direction of movement. The device also has a function to raise the seat up to 70 cm.

Honda Uni-One is based on the previously developed Honda Uni-Cub model. Its weight is 69 kg, payload capacity is up to 109 kg, maximum speed is 5.9 km/h and range is up to 8 km.

Such a device would be especially useful in the virtual space, since the player moves in VR while standing still in real life. Honda Uni-One can solve the problems that arise when using cars in the VR field.

Detailed information about the features and price of the Honda Uni-One device will be presented at the SXSW conference to be held between March 8-16.
