Danish women’s eSports team Astralis, which plays in the Counter-Strike 2 discipline, applied to game developers Valve, claiming gender discrimination. According to athletes, girls’ interest in the game is decreasing because there are no free female character costumes in CS2. reports iXBT.Games portal.

In their open letter, the Astralis team stated that all standard character skins in Counter-Strike 2 belong to men, and that you have to spend money to use female skins. Athletes feel that this situation is unfair and hostile towards the female gender, and also contributes to the spread of sexism in e-sports.

The letter sparked different reactions on social media. While some users mocked the girls’ claims, others expressed their support and called on Valve to take the interests of all players into account.

But not all women in esports share the Astralis team’s opinion. Famous Counter-Strike streamer Dona said that female skins are not a priority for Valve, instead developers should focus on improving gameplay, fixing bugs and fighting cheaters. Dona also added that a punishment system for toxic behavior should be introduced to attract girls to the game.

Previously reportedCounter-Strike 2 will feature story missions and staged scenes.
