Due to the increasing cost of components and the decreasing demand for devices with large amounts of memory, smartphone manufacturers have stopped producing smartphones with excess RAM and ROM. In this respect reports MyDrivers portal.

According to the source, Chinese manufacturers have started to abandon smartphones in versions with 24 GB RAM and 1 TB internal memory. Nowadays, models are mostly available in 16/512 GB configurations, as well as 16 GB RAM and 1 TB ROM.

Previously, Samsung, Micron and other memory manufacturers announced that they planned to increase the prices of DRAM modules by 15-20% in the first quarter of 2024. According to Insider Digital Chat Station, memory manufacturers have signed new contracts with smartphone manufacturers, and DRAM and NAND prices have already increased compared to before.

The first smartphone with 24 GB RAM was the gaming RedMagic 8S Pro, introduced in June 2023. Later, more affordable models from Realme, OnePlus and Redmi with a similar amount of memory began to appear. At the same time, the flagship models of 2024 are equipped with a more modest amount of RAM. For example, the high-end Xiaomi 14 Ultra has “only” 16 GB of RAM, while the new Samsung Galaxy S24 has 8 to 12 GB of RAM, highlighting the need for a higher amount of memory.

Previously OnePlus showed hybrid watches with two operating systems and processors.
