Microsoft is testing a new method that will allow you to apply patches to update the Windows 11 operating system without having to restart your computer. In this respect reports Windows Central portal.
The new update technology is called Hotpatching or “hot patch”. Previously, this update method was implemented for Windows Server and Xbox, but now the innovation has been discovered in the latest version of Windows 11 available to developers.
It is stated that the technology will only be used for monthly security patches. It looks like operating system updates that include new features will work as before. Additionally, “active patches” will require periodic reboots of the system every few months, say four times a year.
“Hot patches” are expected to appear in Windows 11 24H2, which is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2024 for x86 and x64 computers. ARM64 devices will receive innovation in 2025. It has not yet been announced whether the “hot patches” will be available to all Windows 11 users or will be used on commercial versions of the operating system.
Previously Microsoft presented Neural network for Windows analogue of Photoshop.
