Apple is actively working to create a “smart” ring that would act as an analogue of a fitness tracker and collect information about the wearer’s health. In this respect reports MacRumor’s publication.
According to MacRumors, Apple has been working on such a ring concept for several years, as evidenced by several patents. It is assumed that the creation of the device was accelerated by Samsung’s announcement of a similar Galaxy Ring gadget. It seems unlikely that Apple will launch the smart ring faster than its rival, but it is almost certain that the American company will try to make the device more advanced.
“Apple is watching the market closely to see whether Samsung’s smart ring can provide a more convenient and energy-efficient alternative to watches. The company is seriously considering creating smart rings as a suitable scenario to expand its line of wearable devices. This is evidenced by the registration of thematic patents, which has recently increased in number,” writes MacRumors.
Galaxy Ring will enter mass production in the second half of 2024. In addition to being able to measure heart rate, the Galaxy Ring is also expected to support ECG monitoring and sleep tracking. The device should also receive functions to control other devices and the possibility of contactless NFC payments.
