Apple Music is testing a new feature that will let users import songs and playlists from rival streaming services like Spotify into their libraries. In this respect reports MacRumor’s publication.

Traces of this feature in the latest beta version of Apple Music for Android were first discovered by users on the Reddit forum. Later, MacRumors was able to independently verify information about the development of this option. According to journalists, the new feature is the result of Apple’s collaboration with SongShift, a third-party service that allows users to transfer their music libraries and playlists between different platforms.

The new option is in an early stage of development. This is at least evidenced by the fact that not even all Apple beta testers can use it at the moment.

MacRumors writes that third-party services for streaming music on iOS and Mac have been available for several years, but most offer limited features without one-time payments or subscriptions. Testing music transfer to Apple Music using SongShift does not guarantee that this option will appear in the release version of the app. However, according to MacRumors, if Apple is satisfied with the test results, this option may be opened to all users soon.
