Telegram developers have launched a feature that allows users to get a Telegram Premium subscription in exchange for sending SMS from their accounts. It will be used to send authorization codes to other users, reports Telegram Information channel (TGInfo).

Telegram will use the user’s phone to send more than 150 SMS per month at the user’s expense. After sending a certain number of messages, the user will receive a Telegram Premium subscription, which will give him access to additional functions and features of the messenger. Telegram does not refund the cost of sent messages.
Telegram also warns that participation in the program may result in the user’s phone number being disclosed to those to whom SMS codes are sent, or vice versa. Users should be careful not to give their authorization codes to anyone.
This feature was discovered in code in Telegram’s Android 10.8.1 version. According to a Telegram representative, this feature aims to increase the security and convenience of users in countries where sending SMS is expensive. Nothing is yet known about plans to launch the function in Russia.
