Russian video service fined for distributing LGBT* information

The Moscow Tagansky Court fined Restream Media, the copyright holder of the Wink video service, 2 million rubles for distributing information about LGBT among children (the International LGBT Social Movement is considered extremist and is prohibited in the Russian Federation). This has been reported RIA News in the court’s press service.

The publication explained that services and TV channels are mostly brought to administrative responsibility for showing films or clips with prohibited scenes to children without the “18+” sign.

Roskomnadzor (RKN) from December 2022 made 52 administrative protocols against online cinemas for showing LGBT to minors and two for their propaganda. According to RKN, the amount of fines imposed on violators last year exceeded 30.5 million rubles.

During this period, Roskomnadzor also prepared 34 administrative protocols against TV channels featuring performances by LGBT children and six more against the promotion of non-traditional sexual relations on air. The total amount of fines for these violations reached approximately 20 million rubles.

The total amount of fines imposed for such violations exceeded 50 million rubles.
