Artificial intelligence (AI) can be one of the most important drivers of change in the world, Sberbank President and Chairman of the Board of Directors German Gref said at the “Technology and People” lecture held at the Moscow campus of School 21.

According to the president of Sberbank, artificial intelligence brings tremendous opportunities for the development of all sectors of the economy and science. Gref noted that we should not forget the role of people when developing artificial intelligence.

“Engineers need to develop all these systems and assign tasks to them. There will be no such thing as artificial intelligence to replace humans. Most likely this will be a “together” situation. For this, there needs to be someone who deeply understands how everything works alongside artificial intelligence,” Gref stated.

According to the head of Sber, the main tasks in the development of artificial intelligence today are interpretability and reliability. He added that without their solution, it would be impossible to bring the technology to commercial use.

Gref also noted that to work successfully with AI, you need to understand how it works.

“No matter how advanced technologies become, we still need to figure out how to live in the technological world. But we should never forget that we are human, and the most important thing is to remain human. Gref said that human orientation is precisely about people, about each of us remaining human.

He emphasized that people need to make AI more humane towards them.

Formerly German Gref given The beginning of the Digital Marathon competition. The competition, which can be attended by anyone over the age of 18, includes tasks at different difficulty levels for both experienced IT experts and those who are new to the high technology field.
