Tesla wants to begin production of a new mass-market electric vehicle, codenamed Redwood, in mid-2025. In this respect reports Reuters cited four sources familiar with Tesla events. Tesla is presenting the new car to suppliers as a cheap and compact crossover.
According to Reuters, this prediction aligns with Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s long-time promises to produce an affordable electric car on a next-generation platform in the near future. Redwood is expected to cost about 25 thousand dollars (about 2.2 million rubles at the exchange rate of January 24, 2024), which will allow the new product to compete with many gasoline bestsellers.
“Musk initially promised to produce a $25,000 car in 2020, but this plan was later postponed and revived. “Currently the cheapest Tesla car is the Model 3 sedan, which is sold in the United States for 39 thousand dollars (about 3.46 million rubles),” writes Reuters.
The publication’s sources report that Redwood’s release will begin in June 2025. Production volume will be approximately 10 thousand electric vehicles per week.
Previously Musk denied Vote for Biden in the US presidential elections.
