The share of parallel imports in the supply of electronics to Russia, especially laptops and tablets, has decreased. The publication reports this, citing data from GS Group. “Kommersant” (“Kommersant”).

According to experts, the decrease in the share of parallel imports is due to the increased presence of Chinese goods in the market and the growth in Russian equipment production. Thus, while laptop imports to Russia decreased by more than 40 percent and tablet imports by 26 percent, the share of parallel imports in the total laptop supply to the country decreased by 20 percent and tablets by 13 percent.

GS Group noted that last year the share of laptop supplies to Russia through the parallel import mechanism decreased by one and a half times to 33% of the total import volume. The share of parallel imports in 2022 was 53%. In total, 2 million laptops were imported to Russia; this is 41% less than in 2022.

Experts emphasized that a similar situation is experienced in other segments of consumer electronics. In particular, the share of tablets imported through the parallel import mechanism in total imports decreased from 27 percent to 15 percent in 2023. Last year, 1.3 million tablets were imported to Russia; this is 26% less than in 2022.

Representatives of the GS Group noted that, with the exception of Apple, almost all foreign consumer electronics manufacturers that officially left the country lost their positions in Russia.
