Sberbank has repelled over 600 cyber attacks since the start of the special operation in Ukraine. Stanislav Kuznetsov, deputy chairman of Sberbank, talked about this during his working visit to Crimea.

“Last year, Sberbank successfully repelled 124 DDoS attacks,” Kuznetsov said.

According to him, this year started “actively”, but there were no serious attacks. Speaking about trends in cybercrime, the vice president of Sberbank noted that, given the geopolitical situation, a decrease in the activities of attackers is not expected.

“As attackers become more sophisticated and coordinated, the sophistication of their attacks will also increase this year,” he added.

Kuznetsov said that a clear trend recently is attacks on supply chains. At the same time, he noted that attackers cannot achieve anything with head-on attacks, so they are increasingly trying to attack Sber Group companies and our partners.

“Phone fraud using social engineering methods is also well established. At the same time, with the increasing availability of new technologies, new threats also emerge: in particular, the creation of deepfakes. Such cases are already known, but they are not yet common as they require more resources for preparation. But this is a very real threat for which we must be prepared,” Kuznetsov said.

Artur Lyukmanov, formerly Head of the International Information Security Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs saidThere are thousands of “call centers” on Ukrainian territory that engage in blackmail. Details of the operation of such “call centres” clarified in law enforcement. They are located in the Dnieper and Zaporozhye, where they employ people based on acquaintances.
