Figure AI from California, an American startup that develops humanoid robots, will supply a group of devices to work in the US factory of German automaker BMW. This is stated in Figure AI’s message posted on . picker corporate press releases PR Newswire.
As Figure explains, robots will automate complex, dangerous and tedious tasks throughout the entire production process. This will give people the opportunity to focus on more important processes and increase security in the organization.
“Single-purpose robotics has saturated the commercial market for decades, but the potential of general-purpose robotics has not been fully exploited,” said Figure CEO Brett Adcock.
Android Figure will be tested at the BMW facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
According to this agencies BMW’s Spartanburg plant currently employs 11,000 people, Reuters reported. The robots will be used to work in the body shop, sheet metal shop and warehouse. Testing of the machines will last 12 to 24 months.
