South Korean technology giant Samsung announced plans to install Galaxy AI artificial intelligence (AI) on 100 million Galaxy smartphones worldwide by the end of 2024. This was reported by newspaper The Korea Herald cites Roh Tae-moon, head of Samsung’s mobile devices division.

“Galaxy AI on the Galaxy S24 series is a hybrid AI that uses both on-device and cloud AI. “This year, we will introduce Galaxy AI on approximately 100 million Galaxy smartphones to expand mobile AI globally,” Roh Tae Moon told reporters at the Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco.

The latest version of the Galaxy S24 smartphone is the company’s first AI-powered smartphone with real-time translation, improved photo editor, and other features.

According to the senior executive, Samsung plans to start updating its Galaxy AI software in the first half of this year and gradually expand its lineup of AI-enabled devices.

Due to concerns that the device’s built-in AI might negatively impact battery life, Roh Tae Moon assured that the latest Galaxy series is optimized for AI, so battery drain is “not an issue at all.”

The head of the Korean company’s mobile division also stated that artificial intelligence on Samsung devices will remain free for now.
