In times of increased tension, the shopping rate of Russians increases to 17 percent. socialbites.ca learned about this from the joint work of ROMIR and the Neiry biotechnology laboratory.

The study was carried out using various neural interfaces, as well as continuous data collection on the behavior of certain groups of people. In the second case, researchers monitored the participants’ basic physiological signals (EEG, PPG, head movements). Two groups of Moscow residents took part in the experiment: aged 18-29 and with an income of more than 150 thousand rubles. per family member and aged 30-50, income more than 200 thousand rubles.

The results of the analysis of the behavior of participants in both groups showed that their purchasing behavior is directly related to their emotional state. Thus, young respondents reduced the average purchase price by 13% but increased the frequency of shopping trips by 7% during a period of increased tensions. The older age group showed an even greater 17% increase in the frequency of shopping trips during times of stress, while the average bill increased slightly by 2%.

In total, the study analyzed more than 1,000 measurements that characterize both a person’s lifestyle and interests, as well as markers of stress, anxiety, concentration, relaxation and fatigue. As a result, a correlation was established between the physiological parameters of a person and the participant’s actual consumption in a neutral state and increased stress levels.
