Maxim Bilovitsky, a popular Russian-speaking YouTube blogger from Estonia who goes by the pseudonym Thoisoi, accidentally started a massive fire in his home laboratory while experimenting with jet fuel. About this Bilovitsky said in his last video.

The blogger talked about the fire last fall. However, he learned the reason for what happened only at the end of 2023. According to Thoisoi, the fire broke out while they were testing different types of jet fuel.

In particular, the cause of the incident was the reproduction of the combustion process of nitrogen oxide and heptyl-based fuel for liquid rocket engines. Bilowitsky added heptyl oxide to a test tube using a plastic pipette and observed the violent reaction. Due to the high activity of Heptyl, the plastic pipette melted and the substance spilled out of the test tube. The fire occurred at the location of the spilled heptyl.

“During one of the experiments, heptyl jumped into the background, but I did not attach much importance to it. But after a few seconds the paper [для фона] It spontaneously caught fire.
