More than half of respondents (53%) sent congratulations via social networks or instant messengers. At the same time, 46 percent of Russians wished happiness by phone, and 38 percent sent kind words via SMS.
“The majority of Russians surveyed (52%) wished Happy New Year only to their closest relatives, and 49% to their close friends. One third (33%) of the participants congratulated their colleagues, and 31% congratulated all their acquaintances. “5 percent did not congratulate anyone,” he says.
