During the demonstration, Izumi Kawanashi, president of the Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) joint venture, brought the car on stage and controlled it remotely using the DualSence gamepad on the Sony PlayStation 5 game console. It is not a future-proofed vehicle, but rather a demonstration of the development’s technical capabilities.
It was also learned that the multimedia system of the electric vehicle will use the Unreal Engine 5.3 game engine to create visual effects on the screen and train the car’s camera system using neural networks by simulating a virtual environment.
Sony Honda Mobility announced that it has partnered with Microsoft to use Azure AI cloud computing technology to develop Afeela.
SMH first introduced Afeela a year ago at CES 2023. The technical specifications of the future new product have not yet been announced. Sales of the electric car are expected to start in 2026.
