American home booking service Airbnb has started using artificial intelligence (AI) to screen tenants renting properties for New Year’s parties. This was reported by oppression Business Insider (BI).

In 2020, the company banned housing rentals for entertainment events with a large number of participants. Initially, the restriction was temporary but became permanent from 2022.

Airbnb explained that AI checks hundreds of factors in a user’s account before blocking or approving a booking.

Checking includes the length of the rental period, the distance tenants come from, and how much time is left between check-in and customers moving out. AI is particularly suspicious of attempts to rent a home for a period of one to three days.

Airbnb’s neural network has already rejected more than 63.5 thousand transactions in the US on New Year’s Eve. The company plans to expand the program to Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Australia and New Zealand.

Previously US officials reputed Artificial intelligence is a threat to the financial stability of the state.
