A post with an AI-generated image appeared on one of the official Xbox accounts on X (Twitter), which greatly annoyed fans of the brand. In this respect reports Kotaku publication.
The post was published on ID@Xbox profile on December 27, 2023. The company asked subscribers to tell us about the indie games that impressed them this year. The text is illustrated with an image of ID letters on a snowy hill, the word Xbox, and a drawing of people having fun in the snow.
Subscribers immediately noticed that the illustration was created using artificial intelligence. This was primarily indicated by the distorted faces of the people drawn, which is a common mistake made by artificial intelligence, as well as the strange tools in the children’s hands.
Users considered this action hypocritical and devalued the work of independent artists, independent developers.
“Nothing says ‘we’re not interested in independent developers’ like using AI. If you can’t hire an artist for a social media post, I highly doubt you’d do it with indie developers,” wrote a user with the pseudonym NecroKuma3.
Shortly after a series of negative comments, the ID@Xbox administrator deleted the discredited post. Xbox and Microsoft have not made any official comments to the media regarding this matter.
