Some Indian journalists were subjected to government surveillance using Pegasus iPhone spyware. In this respect reports TechCrunch cited an investigation by human rights organization Amnesty International.
According to Amnesty International, journalists in India are increasingly subject to iPhone surveillance every year using Israeli company NSO Group’s Pegasus. The initiator is the so-called current government of India.
Pegasus allows operators to retrieve messages, photos, emails, contacts and GPS data, record calls and discreetly turn on the microphone and camera. It was not reported exactly how many people using this service were put under surveillance in India.
This is not the first time the Indian government has been accused of using Pegasus. In October 2023, Apple notified at least 20 people that their smartphones may have been compromised by government hackers. Owners of all these devices criticized the actions of the current Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
Previously Apple continued Sale of banned watches.
