American technology company Microsoft announced the end of its support for the Windows Mixed Reality platform, which allows users to access virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technology on devices running the Windows operating system using compatible headsets. This was stated in an official message Web site companies.
“Windows Mixed Reality has been deprecated and will be removed in a future version of Windows,” Microsoft said.
The companion Mixed Reality Portal and Steam VR for Windows Mixed Reality programs will also be removed.
In 2017, the company launched Windows Mixed Reality for Windows 10, joining the then-new field of virtual reality competition.
At the same time, Microsoft has no plans to drop support for the enterprise-focused HoloLens 2 mixed reality headset, which is getting the Windows 11 update and many other improvements this year.
Previous experts warnedMicrosoft’s refusal to support the Windows 10 operating system will lead to approximately 240 million computers being thrown into landfills.
