The iPhone 16 series will feature an additional touch-sensitive Capture Button that will be used to activate the camera and automatically switch it to video recording mode. In this respect reports MacRumors cites a new Power On newsletter from Bloomberg insider and reporter Mark Gurman.
The Capture Button will be located in the bottom right corner of the iPhone 16. Here it will replace the mmWave antenna in the US versions of the iPhone. The antenna will move towards the left side of the device and take up space below the volume buttons.
The grip button will be a capacitive touch zone with haptic feedback. It is expected to receive a pressure sensor that will detect different degrees of pressure on it. MacRumors suggests that different pressure levels can be used to activate different camera modes immediately after opening the viewfinder.
According to MacRumors, the Capture Button will appear on all iPhone 16 models: basic and Pro.
The announcement of the iPhone 16 is expected to be made in the fall of 2024.
