Japanese company Sony’s new rules banning the resale of discs for its consoles are a violation of citizens’ rights. In an interview with Reedus on this subject stated First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Informatics Committee Anton Tkachev. According to him, the manufacturer’s requirements have nothing to do with Russian legislation.

“From the point of view of Russian legislation, if a product is purchased by a person from a legal entity, then it becomes the property of the buyer, who in this case can dispose of it in his own interests, including reselling it to third parties. The parliamentarian noted that this is not some kind of entrepreneurial activity.

He emphasized that such “attacks” by Sony would lead to loss of customers and therefore revenue.

According to the new version of Sony’s user agreement, owners of physical versions of games do not have the right to resell them without the company’s permission. Violators risk having their PSN accounts blocked.

Sony game console users in early December reported PlayStation Network accounts are suddenly blocked. At least those living in the United States, some countries of the European Union and Australia have encountered this problem. The company blocked the accounts permanently and without warning.
