The number of videos removed from TikTok increased by 30% this quarter

The management of social network TikTok reported that 136 million videos were removed in the third quarter of 2023 due to violations of platform rules. The report was published in the official gazette Web site companies.

136 million, as TikTok explains, is just under 1% of all videos posted between July and October of this year. Compared to the same period in the previous quarter, the amount of blocked content increased by approximately 30%. In June – September 2023, 106 million clips disappeared from the social network due to violations of the rules.

According to the information provided, the third quarter of 2023 was a record in terms of the number of deleted videos in the entire history of the service. The previous maximum was recorded in the second quarter of 2022, when just over 112 million videos were removed from the platform.

According to the report, videos related to sensitive content and adult content were banned most frequently (39.8%). Advertisements for alcohol, tobacco, drugs, gambling and other regulated products and services came in second place (26.3%). This is followed by violence and criminal activity (14%), mental health issues (10.8%), privacy violations (7.8%), and attempts by users to impersonate another person (1.3%).

Additionally, in the third quarter of 2023, TikTok moderators restored just over 7 million previously deleted videos following reviews.
