The Software and Video Game Association of America (ESA) has announced the final closing of Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the world’s largest gaming industry trade show held annually from 1995 to 2019. Information about this has officially appeared Web site E3.
“After more than two decades of E3, each one bigger than the last, it’s time to say goodbye,” reads a post on the event page.
The message ends with the acronym GGWP (Good game, Well played), which is a phrase players often use to thank each other for an interesting gaming match or session.
According to ESA President and CEO Stanley Pierre-Louis, the organization has decided to permanently close E3 due to the emergence of competing events, the departure of partners and changing audience habits during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We know that the entire industry, game developers and gamers are very excited about E3. We share this passion. It’s hard to say goodbye to your favorite event, but it’s right given the new opportunities to engage fans and partners,” said Pierre-Louis newspaper Washington post.
New opportunities include online conferences, which allow you to convey information directly to audiences at no extra cost. Japanese company Nintendo has pioneered this direction by launching Direct, a video conference where new games and products are announced.
Stanley Pierre-Louis added that the closure of E3 means that the video game industry is now moving in different directions, where major companies have the opportunity to create their own events and venues and attract audiences in new ways.
