Hong Kong startup AI Guided introduced a smart belt called GUIDi for the visually impaired. This allows people to move safely and avoid obstacles in their path, the portal reported Ferra.
GUIDi smart belt consists of two parts: front and back. On the front, there are two cameras, each with 8 megapixel resolution, that scan the environment within a radius of up to 5 meters. In addition to the microprocessor and electronic unit on the back, there is also a vibration motor that warns the user when obstacles are detected.
The belt works using special software that uses artificial intelligence to analyze video from cameras in real time. It can recognize static objects and alert the user about them with silent vibrations.
Additionally, the user can use a mobile application to determine a destination and use GPS to navigate along a specific route. A GUIDi charge will take 10 hours.
GUIDi will be available in early 2024 for 10.1K Hong Kong dollars (~₽117K).
