Russia will launch a satellite constellation to provide Internet access

The government has stated that a low-orbit satellite constellation will be created by 2030 to provide internet access in Russia. The document titled “Strategy for the development of the communications sector until 2035” was published Cabinet website.

The document states “the creation of a constellation of Russian low-orbit satellites that will provide broadband access to the Internet in certain regions of the Russian Federation.”

Satellites are also designed to communicate with emergency services in areas where mobile communications networks have no or inadequate coverage.

The government assumes that the first stage of the Russian spacecraft constellation will be operational by 2030.

Russia on November 29 approved Project to create a lunar station with China. Moscow and Beijing plan to jointly build and develop a space object on the Earth’s satellite.

Before that Russian Aerospace Forces started Soyuz-2.1b rocket with a military satellite from the Plesetsk cosmodrome.

Previously general designer Soloviev named Reasons for the small number of Russian experiments on the ISS.
