The number of hacker attacks in the Russian financial sector may increase by 15% in the first quarter of 2024. Dmitry Khomutov, general director of the company that develops information security tools Ideco, told socialbites.ca.

“Based on the current dynamics and nature of hacks on the IT infrastructure of Russian companies, we can predict an increase in the number of hacker attacks by 15% by March 2024. “First of all, the issue of strengthening information security will affect the financial sector, which is among the top 3 most attacked sectors in Russia, as well as informatics and industry,” he said.

It is not known whether the number of companies seized will increase or not. However, Khomutov pointed out that Russian businesses continue to be skeptical of Russian cybersecurity tools and use foreign solutions. At the same time, maintenance and updating of the latter in the context of sanctions does not always occur on time, which creates additional risks for companies.

“Many companies today have a double whammy; They buy Russian software because they have to, but they still use foreign software. “It is difficult to say what percentage of the market complies with such a strategy, but today it is no longer possible to deny the obvious trend that has emerged until the end of 2023, including representatives of the financial sector,” he said.

Russians before warned about the most popular deception schemes in online stores.
