Google plans to start deleting inactive user accounts for Gmail, Photos, Drive and other services starting December 1. Portal warns users about this 9to5Google.

It is stated that this measure aims to free up space on the company’s servers and increase data security. Users who have not logged in to their accounts for two years risk losing access to their mail, photos, documents and other information stored in the Google cloud.

The company did not specify exactly when the removal would begin, but warned it could start as early as December 1, 2023, and continue into 2024. Before this happens, Google will repeatedly notify users to reactivate their accounts to prevent accounts from being deleted. Moreover, letters will be sent not only to unused mailboxes, but also to a backup address, if specified.

To resume access to an abandoned account, simply perform any action associated with your Google account; for example, sending an email, viewing or uploading a photo, creating or opening a file in Drive.
