The share of politically motivated DDoS attacks against Russia in October 2023 was 26%; This is two and a half times less than those recorded a year ago. TASS reports this based on data from the StormWall company.

At the same time, the share of incidents organized by financially motivated attackers has also increased significantly: from 32% in 2022 to 74% in 2023. The company believes that the share of the latter will continue to increase until the end of the year.

StormWall explained the decrease in the number of “political” DDoS attacks against Russia by disappointment in the effectiveness of the activities of hacktivists. They lost motivation and faced a shortage of resources.

StormWall CEO Ramil Khantimirov emphasized that the rare DDoS attacks carried out by hacktivists, observed in Russia in October 2023, cannot cause serious damage to Russian companies.

A short while ago on StormWall warned Russians about the upcoming wave of DDoS attacks against Russia during Black Friday. According to experts, the main targets of hackers will be marketplaces and online stores.
