“If you have smart speakers or you have activated the voice assistant of big companies on your phone and you are talking about something in front of them, you will be profiled,” Murtazin said.
By profiling, the analyst means drawing a portrait of the user for the advertiser. The profile is created based on keywords and phrases that voice assistants extract from a person’s speech. According to Murtazin, since such information is not defined as personal data, its collection is legal.
“For example, when you discuss buying a yacht, you will be faced with the fact that within an hour or two or three you will be shown contextual ads about yacht sales, marine, related products, etc.” gave an example.
The expert added that users are listened to and profiled by special artificial intelligence, not by individuals.
