During the presentation of the first rating of Russian universities on the quality of education of artificial intelligence specialists, they noted that about 1000 companies in our country need specialists in the field of artificial intelligence. The Eighth International Conference “Journey to the World of Artificial Intelligence” was held within the scope of the Artificial Intelligence Journey.

The rating was based, among other things, on data from employers: the criteria identified the 157 largest companies for artificial intelligence specialists. Thus, this project became a platform to determine the best teaching methods for interaction between business and universities.

“We want to create a guide for business as an employer on which universities are training current data scientists today and which universities may need job assistance,” said Olga Tsukanova, a member of the expert group (known as a foreign agent in the US). Russian Federation), Executive Director of Sberbank Academic Partnerships Directorate.

According to him, the rating platform should help businesses establish a dialogue with universities and direct efforts to support educational institutions where such support is needed and demanded, as well as share the requirements of employers regarding the occupational profile.

“Sber, the country’s largest employer of IT specialists, is extremely interested in expanding cooperation with universities,” said Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sberbank and member of the Supervisory Board of the AI Alliance. “The exchange of experience and knowledge between universities and business allows us to quickly update training programs to meet the real personnel needs of the economy and prepare highly professional, truly in-demand specialists for the market.”

The greater the competition between universities, the greater the incentives that universities must lead, the better the system will develop, said Andrei Omelchuk, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. Therefore, in his opinion, the new rating should give universities quite serious incentives to improve the training of specialists in the field of artificial intelligence.
