Taiwanese processor manufacturer TSMC will significantly increase the number of customers for whom it will produce chips using three nanometer (3nm) process technology in 2024. In this respect reports Wccftech publication cites China Times.

TSMC’s list of new 3nm clients will not only include smartphone processor developers such as MediaTek and Qualcomm. For example, the Taiwanese company will produce 3nm chips for graphics accelerators for Nvidia and processors for artificial intelligence for Microsoft, Google and Amazon.

TSMC is currently processing hollow silicon wafers for 3nm chips at approximately 60-70 thousand units per month. The company plans to increase its production volume to 100 thousand wafers per month by the end of 2024. TSMC’s revenue from the sale of these products is expected to increase from 5% this year to 10% next year.

TSMC’s first customer for 3nm chip production in 2023 was Apple. In Taiwan, they made the A17 Pro and M3 processors for an American IT company, which are launching in the iPhone 16 Pro and 2023 Mac computers.

The first 3nm chips for Android smartphones are expected to be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen4 and MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400.
