The Starship rocket, launched from a spaceport in Texas, may explode in the air shortly after launch. In this respect reported SpaceX is on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
The company announced that contact with the rocket was lost 10 minutes after launch.
The final countdown before the start was stopped at -40 seconds but restarted soon after. Although the rocket reached an altitude of 148 km, problems arose during both re-entry phases. A successful stage separation occurred at the end of the third minute of flight time, but the lower stage exploded a few seconds later.
Starship is a next-generation superheavy, fully reusable rocket with both stages capable of landing on its tail. It is Starship that will have to deliver astronauts to the Moon within the scope of NASA’s Artemis program in the second half of the 2020s.
