The first stage of flight testing of the new Russian transport aircraft TRAMP (transport aviation multifunctional platform) has been completed. This was reported by RIA News referring to one of the developers.

He noted that at the first stage of testing, experts confirmed the main tactical and technical characteristics of the drone. We are talking about the features that are included in the drone program at the design stage.

At the same time, future test flights will aim to improve statistics and further examine the operation of the aircraft. As the source of the institution stated, the tests are planned to be carried out under various conditions.

“Unfortunately, there were some incidents. During the landing phase, one of the two devices went off the runway and crashed due to an automatic malfunction. It is currently being restored,” added the expert.

He explained that the developers are currently trying to determine the exact cause of the crash. Experts plan to use the data obtained to make adjustments to other samples.

“Then we will switch to flights carrying payload,” the agency’s source said.

According to available information, the TRAMP transport drone is capable of covering a distance of more than 600 km and carrying a payload of up to 250 kg. While the drone’s cruising speed reaches 195 km per hour, its cruising ceiling is 3 thousand meters.

When used for civilian purposes, TRAMP is expected to be useful for cargo transportation and forest surveillance. Moreover, the large cargo compartment allows you to install special equipment such as optics, mapping or radar on the drone.
