Early buyers of the new MacBook Pro and M3 chip-based iMac are complaining that their new Apple computers cannot be updated to the latest version of macOS Sonoma 14.1. In this respect reports MacRumor’s publication.

According to MacRumors, the issue affects some MacBook Pros and iMacs. They come with macOS Ventura 13.5 pre-installed. When you try to download an update to them, the system displays a notification that the latest version of macOS is installed on this computer.

It is unknown what causes this problem. However, MacRumors notes that this error indicates that production of at least the new MacBook Pro and iMac begins in summer 2023, when macOS Ventura 13.5 is released.

Independent software researcher Nicholas Alvarez wrote on the MacRumors forum that the only way to install macOS Sonoma 14.1 on new Apple computers is to boot the software from an external storage device. To do this, you will need to use the Setup Assistant program.

The launch of the new MacBook Pro and iMac took place on November 7, 2023.
