Blizzard won’t stop developing its own franchises after merging with Microsoft. In an interview with Bloomberg on this subject said Blizzard President Mike Ibarra.
According to Ibarra, one of the studio’s next games could be a new installment of StarCarft. StarCarft is a series of real-time strategy games set in a science fiction setting. Blizzard’s president does not rule out that the next project in the series could be a different type of game.
“I can’t say, ‘Go make a StarCraft game.’ I need someone with a vision for a game like that and a desire to bring that idea to life. I’m willing to bet on a team like that,” Ibarra said.
Bloomberg noted that many people have left Blizzard in recent years. There were especially many strategy development experts among those who left the studio. In this regard, journalists believe that the company may really have problems developing a new StarCraft in its canonical genre.
