WhatsApp developers have added account protection via email to the messenger. The portal reports that the new feature is already available in beta versions of the app on Android and iOS WABetaInfo.
Users of the current beta version of WhatsApp can now link their account to an email address. The innovation will allow you to use email to log in to your account from a new device. When you try to log in, you will be sent an email with a confirmation code. However, the ability to activate via SMS will continue.
To connect your account and email, you need to open the “Account” section in the settings and find the “Email Address” item. The innovation is not mandatory, but users who have it are recommended to enable it for additional profile protection.
The email address will only be visible to the user and cannot be used as a WhatsApp account ID or a full backup number.
The timing of the innovation’s distribution to all WhatsApp users was not announced.
