Patent licensing company K. Mirza LLC sued Samsung, informs Android Central portal. In the statement, it is stated that the Korean technology giant has stolen the function of determining the remaining battery life.
The lawsuit, filed on May 20, alleges that a feature pre-installed on the Android operating system was actually developed by Dutch research institute Nederlandse Organisatie voor Toegepast Natuurwetenschappelijk Onderzoek (TNO).
The prediction is based on algorithms that analyze user behavior. The plaintiff said in a statement that the remaining fee estimates based on analysis of user behavior are more accurate than estimates based on testing during device development.
However, in addition to Samsung, battery analysis technology is also used in Xiaomi devices and Google Pixel series smartphones. But the lawsuit says it targets devices running earlier versions of Android. Therefore, K. Mirza LLC has no complaints about gadgets running new versions of Android.
