In 2023, half of Russian IT professionals (49%) tried to find a job in international companies but did not receive a job offer from their employers. socialbites.ca learned this from the results of the survey that the SkyEng company made available to editors.
Additionally, SkyEng research shows that only 43% of all applicants receive an offer. However, in 38% of cases, Russian IT specialists were invited to positions whose salary did not exceed a thousand dollars.
Only 71% of all respondents were considering working outside Russia. They think the main reasons are high wages (43%), the opportunity to live abroad (25%) and interesting experiences (22%). The main reasons for those who do not consider offers from abroad (29%) include lack of English language proficiency (28%), lack of funds for relocation (27%) and fear of failure (24%).
Architects of high-load services (popular online platforms with large numbers of users) speak the best English among those surveyed. Of these, 49% have intermediate-advanced (B2) and advanced (C1) knowledge level, and 28% have intermediate (B1) knowledge level. AI developers also demonstrated high levels of foreign language proficiency. 46% of them speak English at B2 and 21% at B1.
The survey was conducted in October 2023 among 1,227 IT professionals interested in working in international companies in Russia and abroad.
