The total income of Russian microbloggers from advertising in the first nine months of 2023 amounted to 503 million rubles, which is 272% more than last year. In this respect reports The Forbes post cites data from analytics platform Perfluence, which analyzed the revenue of more than 200 thousand influencer profiles.

Perfluence attributes the increase in revenue to the unfreezing of advertising budgets and bloggers getting used to platforms other than Instagram, which is blocked in the Russian Federation (its owner, Meta, is known as an extremist and is banned in Russia). For example, bloggers earned 266 million rubles in 2023, more than half of the revenue from Telegram. About a third (174 million RUB) was brought to influencers by VK.

Despite the blocking, Instagram continues to play a significant role in the income of Russian microbloggers, according to Perfluence, as this social network accounts for 9% of registered income. Instagram is the third most profitable platform. Perfluence notes that the companies pay bloggers directly for Instagram ads, bypassing Meta tools (which are considered extremist and banned in Russia), so they do not violate Russian law.
