Third generation (3G) mobile communication networks will stop working in Russia in 2027. In this respect reports TASS referred to the statement made by Dmitry Tur, director of the department of state regulation of the telecommunications market of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation.
According to Tour, the corresponding plan and a decision on the future use of radio-electronic equipment were developed by the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation together with the State Commission on Radio Frequencies and submitted to the government for consideration. The official expects the decision to be approved and adopted by the end of the year.
“At the entrance [плана] “There are several milestones: 2025 – termination of fixed wireless Internet access in major cities, 2027 – closure of 3G networks,” Tur said.
The representative of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation also stated that the 3G shutdown will begin earlier – the procedure will be fully completed by the specified date.
