The First Court of Appeals of the General Jurisdiction accepted as legal the 14-year prison sentence given to Ilya Sachkov, the founder of Group-IB, for treason. This was reported by RIA News.

“The decision of the Moscow City Court has not changed, the appeal is not satisfied,” the court said in a statement.

The meeting took place behind closed doors.

Sachkov has been in custody since September 2021. The evaluation of the claim took place behind closed doors due to the availability of confidential materials related to the case. The prosecutor requested an 18-year prison sentence for Sachkov. According to the prosecution, two years ago he damaged the reputation of Russia’s national interests by transferring classified information to representatives of foreign intelligence. Sachkov pleaded not guilty and described these charges as “a new Dreyfus case”. He insisted and continues to insist that he is “not a traitor, a spy or a traitor”, but “an engineer who has repeatedly proven his devotion and usefulness to the Motherland.”

In July this year, the Moscow City Court prisoner Sachkov was sentenced to 14 years in a maximum security colony with restriction of freedom for one year and a fine of 500 thousand rubles for treason.

Formerly business ombudsman Titov commented The decision of the founder of Grup-IB.
