The Rabota.ru service and the Odnoklassniki social network conducted a study to find out what Russians do after work and how much money they spend on hobbies. 2,700 respondents from all regions of the country participated in the survey.
38% of Russians surveyed make time for hobbies after work and are constantly interested in them. 43% stated that they do not have time to devote time to themselves on a regular basis. One in ten people don’t have a hobby but want something to do for fun. Another 9% admitted that they could not find a hobby.
One of the main hobbies of Russians after work is reading, according to 42% of respondents. Interestingly, there are more book enthusiasts among women than men; While 48% of women love books, only 33% of men love books. In second place in terms of popularity is sports; 31% of Russians do this after work. Watching movies and TV series comes in third place (29%). 23% of respondents prefer cooking and cooking. One in five respondents (20%) spend their free time doing embroidery and handicrafts. 19% of survey participants mentioned computer games and games on consoles. 17% are involved in the training and care of animals. According to Odnoklassniki, which analyzed audience interest in various hobby topics among Russians, interest in sports-related content increased in the autumn; Coverage of groups and bloggers in this area increased by 48%, and people started watching travel-related content 33% more. often. Demand for cooking materials increased by 31%, demand for DIY content increased by 29%, and demand for reading and books increased by 26%.
The hobbies of men and women are different, as expected. For example, sports is the second most popular activity after work among men (31%) and the fourth most popular activity among women (32%). Women also prefer watching TV series and movies more than men (34% and 21% respectively). The top three hobbies for women after work are crafts (32%), while among men, computer games and console games (27%).
Interestingly, almost one in five respondents (19%) do not spend any money on their hobbies. First of all, those who are interested in reading, TV series and computer games answered this way.
54 percent of Russians spend up to 5 thousand rubles a month on books, subscriptions and crafts. 14% of the respondents allocate 6-10 thousand primarily to sports and animals. 6% of respondents spend from 11 to 15 thousand rubles per month, from 16 to 30 thousand rubles – 5% of respondents. Only 2% of survey participants spend more than 31 thousand rubles. The main expenditure items of such participants include sports, gardening and animal care.
Most Russians (58%) prefer to spend more time on their own hobbies after work because it helps them relax. 21% of participants dream of making money from their hobbies. Another equal proportion (21%) state that they devote enough time to their hobbies.
