The entire iPhone 16 smartphone series will receive the new Apple A18 chips manufactured using TSMC’s new 3nm process technology. The portal reports this WCCFTech quotes analyst Jeff Pu.

The current iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models are equipped with Apple’s new 3nm A17 Pro chip, while the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus models receive last year’s 4nm A16 Bionic chip. Next year, all iPhone 16 models will be upgraded to second-generation 3nm chips developed by TSMC using N3E technology.

Thus, numbered iPhone models will use A18 Bionic processors, while Pro versions will use A18 Pro. This means that the standard models will receive the same N3E-based chips but will still be inferior to the flagship models in terms of performance.

TSMC had previously switched to N3E technology due to the high performance of N3B. The supplier has already started using N3E technology for series production. TSMC’s transition to N3E technology will provide significant performance improvements over N3B. In addition, this improvement helps increase the energy efficiency of the devices.
