Analytics firm Lansweeper analyzed 33 million corporate computers and concluded that the main reason for the slow increase in popularity of Windows 11 is the high system requirements of the operating system. In this respect reports Digital Trends publication.
According to Lansweeper, at the beginning of October 2023, Windows 11’s share among other operating system versions is 8.35%. A year ago, this figure was 5.74 percent. Analysts call this growth a “small jump.”
Lansweeper research also showed that 67.5% of workstations have the power needed to install Windows 11. That is, their processors have a clock frequency above 1 GHz, the amount of RAM is 4 GB or more, and they have 64 GB of internal memory. At the same time, analysts note that IT services are in no hurry to update companies’ technology parks, since the installation of Windows 11, as well as the subsequent configuration and support of the operating system, takes a lot of time.
According to Lansweeper data, it appears that the most popular version of Microsoft’s operating system right now is Windows 10; installed on 80.56% of computers. Windows 11 ranks second (8.35%) and Windows 7 ranks third (1.34%).
